What’s an Ozone Treatment and Why Do I Need One on My Car?
Over time, the upholstery and carpet in your vehicle can collect unpleasant odors. Whether its from cigarette smoke, vomit, throw up, pet accidents, or just frequent use, its important to make sure your vehicle is smelling fresh.
People often try and eliminate these odors by masking them with air freshener or by using store-bought cleaners to clean the carpet. However, this usually doesn’t get to the source of the odor and often times just masks it. This is why it is recommended you take your car to a professional for an Ozone treatment to properly remove the odor for good!
Not only does Ozone treatment help remove odors, but it provides many health benefits. Often times odors are accompanied with bacteria and viruses that can live in your car. An Ozone treatment can help kill these bacteria and viruses to ensure your car not only smells great, but is also safe and clean.

How Does An Ozone Treatment Work?
Ozone is an extremely powerful sterilizer that uses an oxidation chemical reaction to destroy unwanted molecules in your vehicle, like bacteria and viruses.
At Smith Bros, we use an ozone generator to produce O3 gas in your vehicle. This O3 gas will permeate through your car and neutralize any odor and nasty bacteria. The best part about this treatment is that since its a gas, it can really reach every area of the vehicle. The gas works its way through vents, upholstery, and seats to ensure the odor is completely eliminated.
The Ozone generator is left in the vehicle on average for 1 to 2 hours. The length of the treatment is completely dependent on the severity of the odor.
Does an Ozone Treatment Work Permanently?
The most important part in making sure your Ozone Treatment is successful, is ensuring the source of the odor is removed prior to the treatment.
At Smith Bros, we will thoroughly clean the vehicle prior to the treatment. The source of odors can often be mildew and dampness that will need to be addressed in order to ensure the odor does not return.
Once we eliminate the source of the odor, the Ozone Generator can get to work removing any lingering smells. Cigarette smoke, vomit, throw up, bodily fluids, etc. can penetrate deep in to your cars upholstery, but a proper Ozone Treatment can destroy these molecules completely instead of masking them.
